In Detroit, coffee shops cluster around downtown offices, college campuses and the main commercial streets of residential neighborhoods, and the independents usually close by mid-afternoon while chains stay open into the evening. Across Michigan, drive-thru coffee stands and kiosks fill the gap in suburbs and along highways, and roasters often sell bags and brewing gear at the counter. Check the listing for hours, whether the cafe takes mobile orders, and its Google rating and recent reviews; parking is easiest at suburban locations, while downtown shops rely on street meters or nearby garages. Loyalty programs are common and worth joining if you are a regular.

Hours are published for 5 days a week. On most of those days it is open 7 am–3 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday, Tuesday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. I've visited this place once before, but I don't remember my order from then. I enjoyed myself though. I went back this past Thursday, and I do remember my order: one of their hibiscus "Lafayette" lemonades, a turkey and cheese croissant sandwich, and a Towne Club root beer. Croissant sandwich was delicious. The lemonade was sour in a good way. I'd never heard of Towne Club, but they have them on their website under 'Detroit Products,' so I appreciate them repping local brands. It seems like DS has gone out of their way to make themselves a community space. I saw a lot of flyers for political causes and candidates, ads for local concerts, and promotion for another restaurant (a bakery, I believe) that they partnered with. A group that I'm pretty sure were political organizers were meeting up while I was there. We need all the community spaces we can get in the D. Definitely give this place a visit!

Cozy gem in the Bagley Neighborhood with plenty of table space and complimentary wifi. Great menu, clean public restroom, street + nearby lot parking, reasonable pricing and awesome staff. You feel the spirit of commitment to this neighborhood the second you walk through the doors. The first time I stopped in, there was a small group assisting entreprenuers with grant writing and interview preparation. I've been hooked since. There's a lot of love and reverence for the city here. Good vibes all around. ✌️

I was in the area and stumbled upon this cute coffee shop! The latte was perfect. This is the perfect spot to meet up with friends for coffee or a quiet place to study. Love this for the city!

Really enjoyed my time at this coffee shop. The space has a great vibe with cool art, comfortable tables, and even chess boards that make it easy to sit down, relax, and stay awhile. It feels like a true community spot. Tiarra and Cash were awesome baristas. They were friendly, welcoming, and made the experience even better. Great atmosphere, great service, and a place I will definitely come back to.

Detroit sip is a hidden gem in the city of Detroit. The atmosphere of this coffee house is truly a vibe. The coffee was aromatic and flavorful. My banana nut muffin was warm, sweet, and delicious πŸ˜‹. You can meet with friends here, study, or just sit and read a book while sipping. I purchased a couple of pillows with my high school alma mater M.L. King on them! It was truly an awesome experience, and I will be back!
